TKS Time Management and Motivation Module Wrap Up
I just finished the TKS Time Management and Motivation Module. With TKS, school, and my sport Muay Thai, there is going to be a lot to juggle this year. I wanted to do this module now rather than later to see if I could get any tips or tricks on how to achieve what I want out of each aspect of my life while maintaining a healthy balance and having time for myself and family. I want to share with you one tip for school, one tip for scheduling, one tip for motivation, one tip for organizing and decluttering, and one thing I’m excited to try and incorporate into my life.
For school, especially when you have exams, one tip I want to share with you is to study with friends. I know it sounds like a distraction. But, if you find a group of friends who also want to study, then you can be motivated to be with your friends, learn, test each other, and have some fun. It makes the whole studying process more enjoyable and a less serious endeavour.
One scheduling tip that I found to be helpful was precise scheduling, where you schedule each moment of your day as if it were an appointment. That way you know what time you have dedicated to what projects or personal time, especially when you have so much to do in the day.
A tip for motivation is to try the 2-minute rule. Basically what it does is it tricks your brain to think the pain of doing a project is less because you tell yourself “I’m only going to work on this project for two minutes.” Once you begin, you’ll get into a flow in those two minutes and you’ll want to continue.
A tip to declutter and organize is to go on your phone and organize your notes using the PARA (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archives) method. This method organizes everything into 4 easy to navigate folders.
Projects: These you are currently working on and they have a timeline or an end goal.
Areas: Like projects, but ongoing and a part of your life and who you are.
Resources: Active notes and information that you check back on regularly to add onto. You may turn these into projects or areas.
Archives: everything else you aren’t working on but still save, this will be your biggest folder of notes.
One thing I’m excited to try in my own life is to try and study with my friends more. It’s definitely something that I think will help me retain more information because I’ll be more engaged, and I’ll probably learn more too!
Well, that marks the end of the module! Look out for the next one!
